Body: There is Something for Everyone at The Fortuna Rodeo Week! It is not just the raging bulls and courageous cowhands; the Fortuna rodeo is a week-long family festival with something for everyone. Come enjoy small town Americana. The good, old days are still happening every year at the Fortuna Rodeo. Rodeo activities begin with a chili cook off on Main Street and end on July 19th at the rodeo arena. •The kids love Rodeo week because there are many attractions for them. All week long: old-fashioned street games include stick horse races, egg toss, penny scramble and other contests. These downtown games draw a crowd every evening. •The Redwood Village Shopping Center puts on shows and holds games and contests for the kids also, including a little cowpokes costume contest. •The local firemen compete in a muster and everyone gets wet that night. The fire trucks are on display and the kids get to hold a fire hose and act like firemen, and the firemen get to hold a fire hose and act like kids. •The carnival with its rides and its midway is set up in Rohner Park and operates for several days. •Friday the official rodeo begins with a night of off-beat contests for both kids (an animal scramble and pinata) and adults (ATV races, "Quadiators" and calf dressing). •Saturday and Sunday the pros enter the arena for bull riding, barrel racing, roping, broncs and other contests. The rodeo finale on Sunday starts with a deep pit barbecue and then moves into the arena for more rodeo-sport. Directions: Take any of the three Fortuna exits off of Highway 101.
