Coast Central Announces a Total of $100,000 in Grants Awarded

Coast Central Credit Union President/CEO James T. Sessa announced that its Board of Directors has approved $100,000 in grants through its Community Investment Program’s spring round to 14 local organizations. A total of 54 non-profits had requested over $750,000.  Coast Central also supports its communities through sponsorship, college scholarship, and employee volunteer programs.

 

Spring 2022 recipients include:

Humboldt County

  • $15,000 Hospice of Humboldt; cargo van for donation pick ups
  • $12,475 NorCal Community Blood Bank; blood analysis devices
  • $10,000 Dream Quest; center for underprivileged youth (also serves Trinity County)
  • $7,500 Blue Lake Volunteer Fire Dept; technical training for emergency responders
  • $5,000 CASA of Humboldt; keyless entry/lighting system
  • $5,000 Ferndale Police Dept; generator & equipment for emergency response team
  • $5,000 Humboldt Trails Council; mower for trail maintenance
  • $5,000 Redway Elementary PTSA; soccer field renovation
  • $4,800 Eureka Woman’s Club; whole milk for homeless shelters
  • $3,275 Mattole Restoration Council; radios for emergency communication

Del Norte County

  • $8,950 Gasquet Fire Protection District; cargo trailer for rescue gear

Trinity County

  • $8,000 Lewiston Community Services District; AED & new gear for firefighters
  • $7,000 Weaverville Fire Protection; extractor/washer/dryer for carcinogen exposure
  • $3,000 Coffee Creek Volunteer Fire Dept; saw for accident rescues and fires

 

“With the number of requests nearly double what we received last fall, it is clear that the needs of our tri-county communities continue to increase, even in essential needs,” Sessa stated. “Nine of our 14 recipients are critical rescue and medical-related, with another three focused on youth.  I am very grateful to our membership, whose unwavering loyalty directly supports these extraordinary efforts.”
