Coast Central Credit Union Partners with McLean Foundation for Center

Over $14 million in grants have been provided to the community by the McLean Foundation in its 20-year history.  The time had come to build “a gathering place” to enable the community to come together in one special facility: the McLean Campus.

In support of the sprawling, multi-functional project located in Fortuna, Coast Central Credit Union’s Board of Directors approved a $9 million loan to help fund the Center.  Located on some 37 acres on Newburg Road, the facility will house Fortuna Senior Services, Remi Vista Counseling Services, Humboldt Senior Resource Center, Gene Lucas Community Center, the McLean Foundation, as well as classes, programs, and areas available for rent.

“Coast Central has been committed to a ‘people helping people’ approach since our beginnings nearly 70 years ago,” stated Bob K. Moore, VP, Chief Credit Officer.  “We are very proud to join the McLean Foundation in providing services to our community in recognition of Mel and Grace McLean’s commitment to giving.”

McLean President Dennis Scott commented, “What started as an $8-$10 million project has turned into upwards of $19 million.  We definitely needed to partner with a truly community-minded institution like Coast Central.”
