Coast Central Credit Union (CCCU) announced that the spring 2021 round of its Community Investment Program is now open. A total of $100,000 is available to support local organizations throughout its tri-county area. Grant amounts generally range from $3,000 to $25,000, and there are usually 8 to 12 recipients. The giving program was created in 2008, and since then has awarded a total of over $1.4 million to 150 organizations throughout Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties. Recent grant recipients have included Big Brothers Big Sisters, Family Resource Center of the Redwoods, and Weaverville Parks & Recreation.
Last year, CCCU contributed a total of $255,000 in community grants, including its COVID Community Care Fund which supported 15 organizations negatively affected by the pandemic. Additionally, through its ongoing sponsorship program, the credit union donated $140,000 to local non-profits in 2020.

The deadline is Monday, March 1, by 5 pm to Humboldt Area Foundation. A committee comprised of credit union staff will review all completed applications and then make recommendations to Coast Central’s Board of Directors, who ultimately approves the grants. The Board’s decisions will be announced by the end of April.
