Coast Central’s Community Grant Program Awards $150,000

Coast Central Credit Union President/CEO James T. Sessa announced that its Board of Directors has approved a total of $150,000 in grants to 24 local organizations, the highest number ever in the history of its 16-year-old Community Investment Program.  A total of 87 non-profits had requested $1.1 million.  Coast Central also supports its communities through sponsorships and college scholarships for a total of $650,000 annually throughout Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties.  Additionally, Coast Central employees will contribute over 6,000 hours in volunteerism this year.

Spring 2024 Grant Recipients:

Humboldt County

  • $20,000 Dream Quest; new center for youth in Willow Creek area
  • $10,000 Arcata House Partnership; hygiene kits for homeless
  • $10,000 Nation’s Finest; new mattresses and carpet for homeless veterans
  • $8,000 Humboldt Bridges to Success; activities for children in crisis/at-risk
  • $6,200 Arcata High Football; helmet replacement
  • $6,000 McKinleyville Youth Football & Cheer; new safety helmets & scholarships
  • $5,000 Bridgeville Community Center; books for 2,000 children ages 0 to 5
  • $5,000 CASA of Humboldt; educational and recreational activities for foster youth
  • $5,000 Humboldt Bay Fire CERT; emergency communications equipment
  • $5,000 Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department; training and supplies
  • $5,000 Pine Hill/South Bay Family Resource Center; art supplies for youth in need
  • $5,000 Redwood Acres Friends of the Fair; new animal stalls for FFA/4-H youth
  • $5,000 Redwood Memorial Foundation; laundry vouchers for homeless families
  • $5,000 Salvation Army; food for homeless/low-income families and seniors
  • $4,500 Cumbre Humboldt; swim lessons for Latinx youth
  • $4,157 Arcata CERT; emergency solar communications equipment
  • $3,588 ERV Community Center Foundation; bilingual AED
  • $3,015 Community United of North Arcata (CUNA); emergency supplies for homeless
  • $3,000 Marshall Family Resource Center; food and hygiene products for homeless children
  • $3,000 Play Street; therapeutic play equipment for youth with disabilities
  • $2,000 Big Brothers Big Sisters; supplies for mentor lunch program

Del Norte County

  • $10,000 Del Norte Little League; field improvements

Trinity County

  • $12,000 Trinity County Search & Rescue; updated dive team equipment
  • $4,540 Watershed Research & Training Center; safety supplies for youth
