Press Release: Coast Central Credit Union Members Raise $2,500 for Food for People

Eureka, CA (December 23, 2025) – Coast Central Credit Union (CCCU) announced recently that its dedicated members have rallied together to raise $2,500 in support of Food for People, the food bank for Humboldt County, during a special one-month holiday fundraising Hunger Fighter Challenge campaign.

In line with its long-standing commitment to the local community and the credit union motto of “People Helping People,” Coast Central Credit Union will further maximize this community generosity by contributing a matching donation of $2,500, for a total of $5,000 to Food for People.

“We are incredibly proud of the compassion and swift action shown by our members,” said Fred Moore, President and CEO of Coast Central Credit Union. “Their generosity comes at a crucial time. The current economic climate means more of our neighbors are facing food insecurity, and organizations like Food for People are indispensable. This collective effort, strengthened by our matching pledge, ensures that even more people will have access to nutritious meals when they need it most.”

Collective Impact in Challenging Times

The impressive total raised by members in such a short period underscores the community’s deep commitment to supporting its most vulnerable residents. The funds will directly benefit Food for People’s vital programs, which provide food security to thousands of local families, children, and seniors.

The Need for Community Support

The need for assistance in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties remains high. Food for People relies on community support to sustain its network of food pantries and distribution programs, which are seeing increased demand. Every dollar raised provides essential resources to help families bridge the gap and maintain stability.

Carly Robbins, Executive Director of Food for People shared, “We are exceptionally grateful to Coast Central Credit Union, its team, and their generous members for their commitment to our community at a time when more and more of our people are having a hard time making ends meet. In the last few months, we have seen a record surge in the number of people coming to us for assistance. These funds will directly support our ability to provide nutritious foods to thousands of our friends and neighbors in Humboldt County, when they need it most”

The credit union’s matching commitment is part of its broader community giving efforts, which include grants, sponsorships, scholarships, and employee volunteerism across the Humboldt, Del Norte and Trinity Counties. Coast Central committed over $700,000 in 2025.

Stakeholders gathered on Friday, December 19 at the Food for People headquarters in Eureka for a check presentation ceremony.
