Coast Central Credit Union Announces Retirement of President & CEO Jim Sessa and Appointment of New President & CEO Fred Moore

Eureka, CA – August 6th, 2024 – Coast Central Credit Union proudly announces the retirement of President and CEO Jim Sessa on September 18 after an exemplary 43-year career with the organization. Sessa, who has held his position for the last seven years, has been an integral part of the credit union’s growth and success. His commitment to community values and member-first philosophy has left an indelible mark on the institution.

Sessa’s dedication and leadership saw him rise through the ranks from a front-line teller in 1981 to the highest executive position. Throughout his career, Sessa navigated the credit union through major technological advancements, including the introduction of Online Banking, Mobile applications, and digital payment systems, ensuring that Coast Central always remained at the forefront of modern banking solutions.  

During the COVID-19 global pandemic, Sessa’s unwavering advocacy and strategic leadership were instrumental in ensuring that Coast Central remained open and accessible to all members. Beyond the pandemic, Sessa fostered community engagement and significantly increased annual community giving by 65%, reaching $650,000 currently.

Effective September 19, Fred Moore will succeed Sessa as President and CEO. Moore, a 5th generation Humboldt County resident with 35 years of local finance experience, has been with Coast Central for six years, serving most recently as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. His tenure has been marked by substantial community involvement and a deep commitment to the credit union’s values.

Reflecting on his retirement, Sessa shared, “It has been a privilege to serve this extraordinary community and work with such dedicated individuals over the last four decades. When I first started at CCCU, personal computers were just making their way into our offices.  Then was the advent of the Internet, the rise of smartphones, and now, the integration of AI. It has been a privilege to be part of this technological evolution that has enhanced our ability to continually serve members better.”  

Sessa added, “I am confident that Fred will continue to uphold our values and lead the organization to even greater heights.  I leave knowing that Coast Central will be in very good hands.”

Moore stated, “I am honored and excited to lead this exceptional organization. My commitment to earning the trust of our board, employees and membership each day is unwavering. I will continue Jim’s legacy and with our outstanding team, ensure that our members remain central to everything we do.”

As the organization moves forward, the credit union’s commitment to its members is encapsulated in the new slogan, “Where YOU are central.” This tagline underscores the continued focus on prioritizing members and ensuring their needs are at the heart of every decision.
