Coast Central Announces $55,000 in COVID Community Care Fund Awards

Coast Central Credit Union (CCCU) President/CEO James T. Sessa announced that 15 community organizations have been selected to receive awards as part of the credit union’s recently established COVID Community Care Fund. Last month, CCCU communicated information about the Fund available to local organizations experiencing significant financial hardship as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Community Investment Program Spring 2020 Round Open

Coast Central Credit Union announced that the spring 2020 round of its CCCU Dean G. Christensen Community Investment Program is now open. A total of $100,000 is available to support local organizations throughout its tri-county area. Grant amounts generally range from $3,000 to $25,000. The giving program was created in 2008, and since then has awarded a total of over $1.3 million to 130 organizations throughout Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties. Coast Central Credit Union announced it is currently accepting applications for its college scholarships, available to all high school seniors graduating this year from schools in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties. Generally, at least 13 scholarships are awarded in the amount of $5,000 each, disbursed over a four-year period. Recipients are required to attend Humboldt State, Chico State, College of the Redwoods, or Shasta College for at least the first two years. Over $14 million in grants have been provided to the community by the McLean Foundation in its 20-year history.  The time had come to build “a gathering place” to enable the community to come together in one special facility: the McLean Campus.
