Coast Central Credit Union Increases its Number of Scholarships Available
Coast Central Credit Union announced it is currently accepting applications for up to 19 college 4-year scholarships, available to high school seniors graduating this year from schools in Humboldt, Del Norte, and Trinity counties. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of up to $5,000 each, disbursed over a four-year period.
Recipients will be selected based on criteria that includes financial need; an essay on overcoming adversity; commitment to education, either through academic performance or consistent improvement during high school; and community and/or school involvement. Recipients are required to attend Cal Poly Humboldt, College of the Redwoods, Chico State or Shasta College for at least the first two years.
“On behalf of our volunteer Board of Directors, and in appreciation to our members, I am pleased that are we able to increase the number of 4-year scholarships from 11 awarded last year to 19 available this year to young people in our tri-county area,” stated CCCU President/CEO James T. Sessa. “As a local organization with a ‘People Helping People’ focus, we are committed to supporting the dreams and efforts of local high school seniors.” The scholarship program is in addition to over $400,000 in community grants and sponsorships awarded annually.
